Carpe Diem

This project I participated in during my junior year, inspired by the lost civilizations of South America.

Originally, the focus was on creating architecture representing these lost civilizations. However, due to the challenges we faced during production—particularly the extensive use of epoxy resin and the placement of objects underwater in murky water—many details of the objects were obscured and could not be showcased. As a result, I shifted the theme to “carpe diem,” emphasizing that modern civilization is built upon a vanished history.

DIFFA 40th years

Alina Wang and Lingwen Lu(me) and Louisa Gutenberger and Morgan Jourdin designed the installation with faculty member Kevin O'Callaghan. We created a booth to honor DIFFA's mission and progress in the 2010s. Finally, it showed at the DIFFA’s 40th anniversary gala. The entire piece is quite tall and incorporates many materials, with each metal piece being laser-cut on the wall. We encountered many issues during the production process, but the result looks amazing. On the right are proceed pictures.
